the Squid Pro Quo spooky season mocktail

after seeing a recipe for a different squid ink based mocktail, i went on a hunt for one with different supporting ingredients and found this one🔄. you're going to want to put the powder in first with a tiny bit of warm water and mix it well, then add all liquids except for the tonic and stir well again, to get the ink properly mixed. i originally tried this with a full 1ml measuring of the powder, but found the taste of the squid ink (which, just a warning, smells pretty gnarly and follows suit with an equally fishy taste) breaking through the rest of the flavors, so i cut it back a bit. the result is a better tasting drink at the cost of a slightly less solid black colour, so it's up to you which one you'd rather sacrifice.

Substitutions: the original recipe calls for regular ginger beer, but i was trying to make this one as low on calories as possible, which is why i went with the "light" variety. it also wants you to use actual liquid squid ink, which would probably work a lot better than the powder. i'm not able to get the actual liquid stuff shipped to me, so the powder had to suffice - so if you go for liquid it tells you to use 1/4 tsp of it. said recipe also suggests gin or vodka in place of the Seedlip in case you want to make an alcoholic version, which i have yet to try myself.
